General Information
Just Wanna Dance Studios is pleased to announce our fifteen (15) 2008 - 2009 Competition and Performing Troupes. Being a member of the Just Wanna Dance Studios Competition and Performing Troupes requires a one year commitment by both the student AND the parents. Our companies are described below and provide you with total estimated cost for additional performances, competitions and workshops fees as well as the costumes. In addition to the audition registration fee and normal class fees, each Performing troupe member is required to purchase the troupe leotard, bag and cover-up and wear them to all troupe classes and events. Performing Troupe Placement is based on skill level and is age appropriate. Dancers will be placed with other dancers their own age for the audition; however this does not mean they will be selected for a specific troop based on age alone.

If you want to audition for our 2008 -2009 Competition and Performing Dance troupes, you MUST attend this dance camp.
NO EXCEPTIONS!

Featuring instruction by guest Master Teachers and Choreographers in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acro, Stretch and Musical Theatre. The audition routine will be taught on Friday after camp for all participants who have registered to audition. Auditions are the following week. For more information, see our website. Audition Camp Fee

FOCUS
Focus is perfect for serious dancers, 3rd grade and higher who want to excel in a single specific dance discipline and also have the flexibility to participate in other activities. This is an audition only dance troupe with three (3) different age/ability troupes per dance discipline:
   FOCUS Ballet (Junior, Teen, Senior)
   - Will participate in Ballet, Ballet Technique, Pointe, Stretch & Choreography classes
   FOCUS Tap (Junior, Teen, Senior)
   - Will participate in Tap, A Cappella, Tap Technique, Stretch & Choreography classes
   FOCUS Jazz (Junior, Teen, Senior)
   - Will participate in Jazz, Jazz Technique, Stretch & Choreography classes
   FOCUS Dancers will:
   * Take classes in their dance discipline (regular and technique), Stretch & Choreography class
   * Attend classes 2-3 days week (Juniors) or 3-4 days a week (Teen/Seniors)
   * Work with professional guest instructors and choreographers
   * Compete at three local area talent competitions and attend 1 convention
Minimum Estimated Annual Cost for FOCUS Dance Troupe - $650 PLUS monthly tuition

ENCORE
Encore is an advanced level performing and competition dance troupe for dancers in 6th grade or higher. This dance troupe learns routines that are theme based and can be performed as an entertaining show. The instruction includes Musical Theatre, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Tap routines. This is an audition only dance troupe.
   ENCORE Dancers will:
   * Take classes in Musical Theatre, Tap, Tap Technique, Jazz, Jazz Technique, Hip-Hop, Stretch & Choreography classes
   * Attend classes 3-4 days a week (Teen/Seniors)
   * Work with professional guest instructors and choreographers
   * Compete at three local area talent competitions and 1 convention competition
   * Local performances
   * Take intensive classes at 2 conventions
   * Attend one-week summer camp at JWD
Minimum Estimated Annual Cost for ENCORE Dance Troupe - $1,600 PLUS monthly tuition, guest choreography and travel expenses

PULSE
Pulse is our highest-level performing and competition dance troupe for dancers in 3rd grade or higher. This dance troupe is for serious, distinguished dancers who have outstanding technique, performance quality and style. For students considering professional careers in dance, this dance troupe will provide you with the technical training and network to help you succeed. This is an audition only dance troupe with three (3) different age/ability troupe:
   PULSE Dancers will:
   * Take classes in Musical Theatre, Ballet, Ballet Technique, Tap, Tap Technique, Jazz, Jazz Technique, Hip-Hop, Pilates, Stretch & Choreography classes (Pointe is Optional)
   * Attend classes 2-3 days week (Juniors) or 3-4 days a week (Teen/Seniors)
   * Work with professional guest instructors and choreographers
   * Attend at 2 conventions throughout the Southeast
   * Compete at 2 out of town competitions plus a chance to dance at Nationals.
   * Compete in a minimum of two talent competitions throughout the Southeast and one national competition
   * 4 Local competitions
   * Have the opportunity to travel to LA or NY for summer dance study
   * Pulse dancers will also take summer classes in New York.
   * Attend a technique intensive
Minimum Estimated Annual Cost for PULSE Dance Troupe -
JUNIOR PULSE - $2,000 PLUS monthly tuition, guest choreography and travel expenses
TEEN PULSE - $2,600 PLUS monthly tuition, guest choreography and travel expenses
SENIOR PUSE - $3,000 PLUS monthly tuition, guest choreography and travel expenses

RAZZLE DAZZLES
Razzle Dazzles is for dancers ages 5 - 8 and is a stepping stone to FOCUS, ENCORE or PULSE. Dancers are selected through our class observation, by invitation only and a have a separate audition schedule as we like to observe them for the first month of each year.
   RAZZLE DAZZLES Dancers will:
   * Take classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Stretch & Choreography classes
   * Attend classes 2-3 days week
   * Compete at three local area talent competitions and attend 1 convention
Minimum Estimated Annual Cost for RAZZLE DAZZLES Dance Troupe - $650 PLUS monthly tuition.

REQUIREMENTS TO AUDITION:
   * Read this information packet thoroughly and write down your questions
   * Attend our Dance Troupe Questions and Answers Session (September 13th 7:30-8:30PM)
   * Attend one week audition camp at JWDance Studios (September 20th and 21st - All Dance Troupes)
   * Register by September 18th for the 2 part audition
   * Auditions will be held September 21st (After camp is over)
   * Submit Audition form, audition fee ($25) & self addressed stamped envelope
   * NOTE: THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! No results will be given out over the phone. The results will be mailed to you on September 22nd and posted in the studio as well.
   * If you are selected, you AND your parent/guardian MUST attend the MANDATORY information meeting.

Appropriate Audition Attire:
Girls: non footed or stirrup tights, one or two piece. Toe-Thongs for lyrical, ballet shoes for ballet, Pointe shoes IF YOU ARE ALREADY ON POINTE, tap shoes for tap, dance sneakers for jazz and hip hop. Hair Back!

Guys: T-shirt and shorts or sweats, dance sneakers for hip hop and jazz, barefoot for all others.

Audition Week Expectations:
All dancers will audition with their appropriate age group. Placement will be up to the audition instructor. All Dance troupes are based on AGE AND DANCE LEVEL. We do not have a set number of dancers we select each year. Our decision is based on the talent of the dancers we are auditioning.

Our auditions consist two parts. Upon registration, you will be assigned a number. You will wear your number to both parts of the audition.

On September 20th, you will attend a one hour class at the end of audition dance camp where you will learn a jazz combination. We teach this combo so we can evaluate how well you perform after you have time to practice.

After September 21st the camp will be over and you will be scheduled to return for the actual audition. At this time you will perform the routine and learn several additional combinations so we can evaluate how quickly you pick up the choreography.
